Founder, Chief Investment Officer

Hhu founded Tempered in 2010. Previous to that, he served for eleven years as a core member of the investment team within the Mackenzie Cundill organization, including eight years as co-manager of Ivy Cundill Global Value Fund alongside Peter Cundill. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from the University of British Columbia and is a CFA charterholder.

Investment Analyst

Lorenz is responsible for investment research at Tempered.  Prior to joining the firm in 2021, he had 15 years of institutional investing experience, spending the first half of his career in Singapore covering global markets, and the second half in Vancouver covering the North America market.  Lorenz holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree (double majors in Actuarial Science and Statistics) from the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder.  He is a voracious reader, a nature lover, and an off-the-beaten-path globetrotter.

Chief Compliance Officer

Grace articled and earned her accounting designation with Deloitte LLP and spent the last six years with the BC Securities Commission before joining Tempered in 2019. Previously at BCSC, Grace conducted compliance examinations of advisers and investment fund managers, as well as evaluated firms’ overall operations and system of compliance against Canadian securities regulation.  She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University.

Manager, Finance & Operations

Having worked in public practice for five years, Anna spent her next eight years with the Cundill organization as an Accountant. With her experience of working with various investment clients, including limited partnerships, retail and hedge funds in both Canada and the U.S., she joined Tempered in 2012. Anna oversees administration and is responsible for corporate finance at Tempered.

Trader & Settlement Administrator

David joined Tempered in 2015 and is responsible for trading and settlement. He has over 20 years of experience in the industry, primarily with the Cundill organization, where he was Senior Trader for over $15 billion in clients assets.  David has completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Canadian Investment Funds Operations Course. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Human Kinetics) degree from the University of Guelph.
